I've been a LAS VEGAS resident since 1973. I came to Vegas on vacation and never looked back. I never thought that you could fall in love with the desert, but I did. I love the ocean, but apparently the Desert Gulch was a bigger draw for me. When I first moved to Las Vegas, you could get from one part of town to another in just a mere 15 minutes. And the total population was just under 200,000. Everyone, pretty much, knew everyone. It was not uncommon to live next door to a Movie Star or big name Singer.

A LITTLE ABOUT MY FAMILY:

The Borla family came to Las Vegas in 1928, when the family patriarch moved from Illinois to Goodsprings, Nevada. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodsprings,_Nevada

Here's a little History:  The Goodsprings Saloon still exists, and my father-in-law's mother would send him to fetch his Papa's paycheck, so Papa wouldn't be able to drink or gamble it away. That's what miners did. That's the way it was in the old days.

After awhile the family moved into the big city of Las Vegas, adding to the then population of approximately 15-20,000. The Borla family decided to settle down on the corner of Main and Gass Streets.

There they ran a boarding home for casino workers. My husband has told me many stories of the poker shills that use to rent from the Borla's. It's funny, because now, It's the Casa Linda Motel on Main and Gass.

I'm about to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary to my wonderful husband, Bob, who is now enjoying retirement from the Union Pacific Railroad. Bob was an Engineer for 35 years.

My daughter is a CSI person. She's been a Forensic Investigator with the Clark County Coroner’s office for about 10 years now. She's amazing. It's a very special person who can do this job. She won top honors this last year for going about and beyond to help bring closure to a family's lost. I'm so very proud to call her my daughter.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME:

I've been an active full time Realtor and a member of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors since 1987 and signed up for the REALTOR® Committee back in 1989.

I grew up in the Washington D. C., Maryland, and Virginia area and left the area for the wide open spaces of the Nevada. I’ve been blessed with friends from all over the world and have enjoyed learning about the differences of others.

I’ve always worked with a plan in mind so I went to work in the Casinos as not to starve while working on my education. While working in our World Renown Casinos I had the pleasure and joy to meet people from all walks of life and people from all over the world. I'm not sure which was the best source of education.

I also, do not believe or allow the grass to grow beneath my feet.

EDUCATION:

Clark County Community College & University of Nevada

My major in College was Business, and was drawn into Marketing. I even sold my Marketing Professor’s home while taking his classes. This happened after he had been trying to sell it for several months. I sold it in 29 days for the highest price in the neighborhood at the time.

EMPLOYMENT:

Insurance Agent/Broker from 1980 to 1988.
Life, Health & Casualty

1980, I saw an ad in the local newspaper from Mutual of Omaha and decided to become an Insurance Agent. Passed my license on the first go around. I continued college and moved full time into the Insurance industry. I sold Health, Life and Property & Casualty Insurance for eight years through Mutual of Omaha and then became an Independent Insurance Broker. One office manager asked me once; "Who recruited you"? I explained, "No one, I answered an ad in the newspaper". He was shocked. I had managed to be number one in sales in the office. I was taught from the time I was a little girl, "My mother use to tell me; "Honey, you can do and be anything you want". My dream and goal was to be the best I could be in whatever I do.

I still believe my mother's words, to this day!
